Delaware State Police Museum
Delaware State Police have evolved from a small group of motorcycle patrolman to a fully equipped law enforcement agency with over 600 police. The museum has been created to preserve, interpret, and showcase the history of the department going back to 1923.
It is an educational experience that supports the role of law enforcement and gives our society a deeper appreciation for the protection and service we receive as a community.
The museum is open to the public and has several different exhibits to explore. The first exhibit describes the type of investigations and crimes that the agency solves in Delaware. With ten decades of information available, you will not run out of history to learn.
Delaware Agricultural Museum
Since its grand opening, about 40 years ago, the Delaware Agricultural Museum has welcomed over 500,000 guests. The museum houses a collection of over 4,000 artifacts divided into a mixture of fascinating exhibits. The leading exhibition explains the history of technological advances made throughout the decades, including captivating inventions created along the way.
After walking through several exciting exhibits inside, you can venture out to Loockerman Landing, a replica of rural life in Delaware villages in the 1890s. You can step foot into a Farmhouse where meals were prepared, a School House where children would receive their education or the Train station, which was the fastest means of traveling.
You can also make your way over to the Blacksmith and Wheel-Wright Shops to see examples of wagon wheels and horseshoes. There are tons of interactive exhibits to enjoy during your trip, so make sure to scout them all out.
After your trip to the local museum, make a stop at one of Cheswold’s best pizza joints.
