History
This family-style restaurant was founded by owner Bob Evan’s back in 1948 in Columbus, Ohio. Bob worked his way into the restaurant business in 1948 by making sausage on his farm to serve at a small diner he owned in Gallipolis.
After years of serving customers, his base grew, which required him to build his established into a more significant place named The Sausage Shop in 1962.
Bob’s farm in Rio Grande, Ohio, has since become an evolving tourist attraction and for the visitors to explore throughout the year. Additionally, the farm hosts its signature event, the Bob Evans Farm Festival, every year in the Fall since 1971.
Today, the chain of family restaurants operates nearly 500 locations in 18 states, mostly in the Midwest, mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions of the United States. The state of Delaware is lucky enough to have one of its establishments located in the city of Cheswold.
