Since its grand opening in August of 1980, the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village has welcomed over 500,000 guests, with numbers continuing to rise annually. The Museum was created to promote agricultural educational resources, awareness, and cultural heritage recognition through the many exhibits on display.
Over the course of 40 years, the Museum has grown exponentially and has continued to expand as the building undergoes renovations.
Exhibits
In the Main Exhibit Hall, you’ll find educational displays on technological advances created by locals in Delaware, that have ultimately improved society or perhaps had no effect, depending on what the invention was.
Loockerman Landing demonstrates life in the Delaware countryside in the 1890s. Take a step back in time with real-life examples such as the School House where lessons were taught on a day-to-day basis; the Farmhouse where daily meals were prepared; the Train Station where the mail would arrive before being dispersed to each home: and the Church where Sunday service was always held.
After exploring all replicated exhibitions, stop by the Blacksmith and Wheel-Wright Shops to discover the variety of horseshoes and wagon wheels, or the Mill to pick up some flour to make a loaf of bread.
